Otumfuo Commemorative Gold Coin

Projecting the Asantehene's stature across the institutional reach of public life.

Otumfuo Commemorative Gold Coin
The Brief

Commissioned to mark twenty years of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II's reign as Asantehene, the commemorative gold coin was conceived as more than a keepsake — it was a national gesture, designed to reach the highest offices of state, the judiciary, the central bank, and traditional authority. JAA was retained to design and steward the messaging, protocol, and rollout strategy that carried the Asantehene's commemoration into each of those rooms.

The brief was simple in intent and demanding in execution: ensure the Asantehene's stature was projected at full weight into every room the commemoration entered. The work was as much about restraint as it was about visibility — measured pacing, consistent protocol, and a deliberate refusal to let any one presentation overshadow the next.

How we worked

Approach

  1. 01Aligned messaging across the executive, the judiciary, senior offices of state, the central bank, and the Manhyia traditional authority — so the Asantehene's framing reached each presentation intact.
  2. 02Sequenced presentations with strict neutrality across the political cycle, so the commemoration belonged to the Asantehene's legacy and not to any one administration.
  3. 03Coordinated state protocol with Manhyia protocol — two distinct ceremonial cultures — into a single rollout calendar.
  4. 04Coordinated press access across Ghana's leading national outlets and into international coverage — extending the Asantehene's stature well beyond a single news cycle.
  5. 05Phased the rollout deliberately across the highest offices of state — each stage reinforcing the last, each presentation projecting the Asantehene's stature into a different institutional reach.
